ChakUmba Ceremony of Laija Devi Celebrated grandly in Kakching.

Amid ceremonial splendour and religious rituals the traditional Chakumba of six-month old Laija Devi daughter of Major Surjit Kumar Singh and Sonia Devi was performed today at Turel Wangma Club Pareng, Kakching.
Notably Chakumba ceremony is known as the first feeding of solid food like Rice , Dal, Milk and Holding of Pen, Books to a child upon attaining six months so that from today onwards sold food can be fed to Her. On this day the parents and Family members of the Child are very excited to feed the First rice and dal to the baby.
Bedecked in customary attires for the occasion, the ceremony was attended by several people and relatives of Major Surjit Kumar Singh .
